4OPT. 2

WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR:

Helena Van Der May :
So far we have made a corset for the dress. We also gathered many different coloured leafs and varnished them (so they will be preserved ). Then we started wiring the leaves with floral wires so we can attach them to the dress.

Daina Hosty:
I am in a group with Aisling Noonan and Shannon Farrelly for our Junk Kouture project. Our theme is Irish Dancing.
In the first week of Junk Kouture, I helped my team mates to conjure up ideas for our dress. We decided on making a bodice and applying a skirt. The bodice of the dress would be make of paper maché, and the skirt would be made of recycled tutus.
I started talking to everyone in my year, asking them if they had any old tutus they may never use again. I got a great response and collected three tutu’s the following day – One pink, one yellow and one red. I decided how to incorporate them into our dress.
In the following Home Ec class, I began to tack the yellow and pink tutus together. I tacked them together in red sewing thread as to see it clearly against the black elastic when sewing it on the sewing machine.
The next Home Ec and Art classes, we moulded chicken wire into the shape of our model Aisling. I cut the wire to the right length and width while Shannon shaped it. She kept the shape and I began to strip pieces of old newspaper for the paper maché.
I mixed the wallpaper paste together with the right amount of water. I began to apply it to the strips of newspaper and handed the strips to Shannon and Aisling who moulded the newspaper to the chicken wire. Our bodice started to take shape.
The next class we began to mould the back of the bodice. I cut it into the right shape of Aisling’s back. Once again, I applied the wallpaper paste to the newspaper strips and passed them to Aisling and Shannon who moulded it onto the bodice.
Once the bodice had dried, I stripped white sheets of paper. I applied PVA glue to the strips and placed them over the strips of newspaper. Once dried, this will allow us to paint over the bodice easily.

Roisin Mahon:
My name is Roisin Mahon and I have been doing my Junk Kouture for the last six weeks and I am REALLY enjoying the experience so far.
First thing we had to do was come up with our dress ideas, if we even wanted to make a dress or a t-shirt skirt outfit, We than came up with the idea of doing a long at the back and short at the front skirt which was not our original plan of just lines but I am very happy that we went with this idea because it is way more original and it looks much better than our original plan.
We than had to start collecting bottle caps, this took not as long as first thought due to the fact that my partners father delivers alcohol to pubs in town and they agreed to give us their bottle caps, this was very helpful as we didn’t want to go into local pubs and ask for their bottle caps because they might have thought we were mad!.
After collecting some of the bottle caps we then started on our bodes which consisted of the front and back for our t-shirt part of the dress, we spent two weeks paper machaeing the bodes so that we could firstly fit our model to it and then paint it to suit our dress.
We have now just been painting all of our bottle caps and stitching our skirt together

Dairine O’ Rourke
My group is Helena, Maeve and me.  We decided to make a dress using leaves ad newspaper.I collected lots of leaves.  I tried to get different colours.  I found green, yellow, brown, orange and wine leaves.  They were all different sizes and shapes.  I also collected some twigs.I brought in the leaves and twigs and some newspapers.  I tore up the newspaper into long strips.I drew out a sketch of the dress.  It’s a long dress with a frill on the end.  It has a V neck.

Hasana Bagnall Hare:
So far we have designed the dress we will be making. We have collected most of the materials we will need. We have put holes in most of the bottle caps and are currently painting them a blue black colour. We are also making the skirt to sow the caps onto.

Emma Griffin:
My name is Emma Griffin, I am working on junk koture with my co-partner shannon Flannelly. We decided that our theme would be sports.      That was the first thing we had to do. We had come together to brainstorm about our ideas. In the end we ruled it out to having a sports theme . We then had to decide on the materials that we would use. We also chose who would be the one to model the dress and who would be the team manager. It was decided that I'd model the dress and Shannon would be the team manager. We decided that we would use mainly different sports balls for both the skirt and the top part. For our top we would make a design out of basketballs and gaelic balls, and for the skirt we would use soccer balls. We will also use shuttlecocks to decorate our dress. We will name our dress "cinderella's ball gown", playing on the word "ball". We had to go about getting these materials. We got together and decided how we would get these materials. We went to the local GAA club and soccer club, they both said that they'd contact us if they could provide us with the burst or disused sports balls that we need. We also asked our relatives if they had any and we collected many that way, both gaelic and socar balls, and a basketball that we could use too, We went to a hardware shop and bought wallpaper paste and chicken wire, we used these to make the base of our skirt. We had to cut up the chicken wire and fit it into shape to fit me .We made this from paper mache, we spent a couple of classes doing this. We then used one of my old skirts and sewed it in order to make the top for our outfit. We will sew the design with the basketballs and gaelic balls onto our dress.

Sophie Glennon:
Name; Why so serious, I'm only joking!
Material; Paper mashe and playing cards
My Partner; Elaine Mc Lennan
My Role;
I started off brainstorming mine and Elaines idea on what ways we could present our project. We then collected cards from friends and family which was a great help.
I went home and decided to get started. Firstly we were going to start off with making accessories. I cut some cards in to long, skinny triangles. With this, I rolled them up and glued top and bottom together, which resulted in a card coloured beads. I placed them all together on some old wire and made a necklace and bracelet.
Soon, I started on the paper mashe. I took the back part of the dress and shaped it around Elaines body, as she is our model. I used newspaper to cover the dress and the covered it in white paper and glue to harden our dress.
After a few classes, I finished my part of the dress and I am now trying out new ways to place the cards on out dress.

Elaine McLennan:
My name is Elaine. Myself and my partner Sophie are working on our Junk Kouture project together. Sophie and I came up with the idea to make our dress with the theme of playing cards. The makeup we agreed upon for the day of modelling are product, would be the Joker from batman. To start off our project, Sophie brought in chicken wire and I brought in newspaper. The person to model the dress is myself. Sophie, with my assistance molded the chicken wire around the shape of my body in order to have a bass for our dress. We then used the newspaper and started placing paper mache strips (paper brushed over with a mixture of water and glue) onto the chicken wire in order to create a firm base in which to place the cards. After the first layer dried , another layer was placed on top to make it even harder. After the second layer dried Sophie and I started to glue cards onto our dress (Paper Mache). In the next class the cards had dried but almost immediately started falling off the dress. We then decided to staple the cards to the dress. An idea which we have decided to stick with. Sophie and I are now in the middle of the stapling  process. Alongside working on the dress, accessories such as necklaces , bracelets and fans are being made, so that we can accessorise our finished project. Seven more weeks (aside from midterm) will be given to completing our Junk Kouture outfit.

Kate Nolan:
The first week, my group and I decided on an idea and a theme. Our idea was a ‘Washing Machine’. We decided what materials we were going to use and also where we were going to get these materials. The most difficult material to get was the washing machine drum which we planned to use for the skirt.
The second week, we began sketching our idea and decided who was going to bring in what materials.
On the third week, we cut out the chicken wire and molded it into the shape of the bodice.
We then began to make the bodice out of paper mache. This took us over two weeks as we had to let the paper mache dry and also do a second layer.
On the fourth and fifth weeks, we began to cut out pieces of cardboard that we’d use for a mosaic on the bodice. We are currently sticking the mosaic onto the bodice.

Michelle O’ Dea:
One the first week for our junk kouture work we got into our groups and brainstormed for ideas of what we would use to make our outfit. We finally decided that we would do a Washing Machine theme. That day we also chose our model and our team captain. When that was done we then divided out the materials and objects we would need to collect for the next class. The next class came and we sorted out what we had collected. Firstly we got out chicken wire where we cut and shaped our top. When that was complete we began to strip pieces of newspaper and paper mache the chicken wire. On the second week we were still working on the paper mache. I also went and got a drum out of a washing machine for our skirt. This is when we began to file the drum so that we could get rid of the sharp pieces. On the third week we taught of ideas of how we would decorate our top and our skirt. We changed our minds a lot. This week we had to wait for the paper mache to dry as it was taking its time. On the fourth week when the top was dry we then painted it white for our mosaic. We also continued to file down our drum and collect powder boxes to mosaic our top. The paint dried very quickly so we got started on our mosaic. This is the fifth week and we are continuing on with our mosaicing.

Lorna McEvoy

The idea of my ‘Junk Kouture’ project is the use of electrical wires and Christmas lights anything electrical really. I collected up some wires with my group of Ava and Roisin and some Christmas lights. We came up with our design of the corset and I started paper mache on it. It took around three classes to successfully complete this and then throughout those classes I also stripped wires and took the lights out of the plastic casing on the Christmas lights. I painted the corset a fuchsia colour and I’m the model for the outfit so it was fitted for me so I was put into it by Ava in one class and she tied up the sides with the wires and it fitted me. In another class we got this ‘tutu’ mesh material and started putting the light bulbs through the holes to secure them tightly and we’re planning on putting this mesh on the top of the corset for an embellished look. The final thing I did was to design the skirt. I designed this and the idea is a material base just wrap around skirt made out of bed linen or something like that we didn’t decide yet but we have to paper mache oval shapes coming out from the waist and we are going to twist up the wires to make them into a spiral shape and put them onto this and hopefully this idea will work and will look effective.

Ava Kennard
On the first day we planned our dress idea and thought of different methods to construct the dress. After brainstorming we decided the theme of our project was to be lights (e.g. Old Christmas lights, light wiring, switches and other electrical items used in lighting). My group then drew the design on paper and planned what materials we would need for the next class: Chicken wire to construct the bodice, newspaper and glue to paper mache, old Christmas lights and various wires. We considered using wall paper paste but decided PVA glue was easier to source and use in school.
When we brought in the materials to class we began by shaping and cutting our chicken wire shaping it to the person who would be modelling the dress, it was shaped into a bodice. We then paper mached a layer of newspaper on the bodice and began stripping the lights from the wires (This involved pulling/Cutting off the lights from the wires and stripping a layer of plastic one by one from the LED Christmas lights). We planned to bring in material to the next class so we could begin constructing the skirt of our dress.  The skirt was originally planned to be a long maxi skirt design covered in wires but after problems constructing the dress we re-designed the skirt to be a mixture of material and a chicken wire “winged” structure and a belt of wires and light switches. We used some of the colourful wires to braid friendship bracelets as an accessory for out outfit.
After paper macheing our bodice we made holes in the edges of each piece so it would be possible to lace up the corset with wires. After checking to see that the bodice fit the model we removed the wire lacing and began painting it a purple fuscia colour. We cut a piece of pink netting to fit the shape of the front of the bodice and began attaching our disassembled lights to the netting. To attach the lights we twisted the electrodes and secured them to the net. We then cut another two pieces of chicken wire to make the winged part of the skirt and started paper macheing the skirt.
Roisin Nolan:
We started off by designing the outfit and head piece we have not yet started the head piece but are planning to maybe use a lamp shade or make a light switch with paper masjid and chicken wire if we have enough time we also had to pick out our theme we chose the theme of ‘lights’ for our junk couture. So far we have gotten chicken wire and paper maché our top with newspaper first we had to collect the newspaper we then did a layer of white with normal recycled paper from the paper bin which were originally used for notes home. To make a clear layer with no print on the page to make it easier to paper masjid, we then painted it pink, we did two coats as when we came back the second day we noticed some of the paint had cracked. we also collected lights and began to take the Christmas fairy lights out of they’re holders and cut the wires. The wires which we collected from lights we used to make scoobys as designs and are also using them to decorate the garment but also for jewellery.
When we had cut all the wires and lights out of the plastic so far we got material which we are sticking the lights to for the top part of the garment. We the began to design the skirt part which is hard to explain but we have two parts coming out as the sides which we made from chicken wire and paper masjid again. We still have to finish this off and wait for it to dry so then we cant paint it pink (the same colour as the top). We then have to get material to make the skirt out of.  We are still sticking lights onto the material for the top which is very time consuming we are planning to put glitter under the material on the top part which we have painted so when we do stick the material down with the lights on it the glitter will shine through the fabric as it is a sort of net material which we sourced from an old tutu.

Sinead Smith:
For my junk kouture project Niamh and I are making our dress out of circuit boards, items that we take off the circuit boards and wires.
What we have done over the last few weeks is make the paper mache bodest. How we did was by shaping the body of the model in chicken wire and then covering it in newspaper with wall paper paste. Then for the skirt we are going to weave the wires in and out of the chicken wire to create a puff ball skirt.
We have the stripped out wires for the skirt and got all the circuit boards from the broken Tvs we had. We have got most of our circuit boards from tv's which we got for sharp. We got our wires from items like hair straighteners, earphones, chargers etc.

Over the midterm and next few weeks we have to mold the circuit boards so that they can bend to suit the shape of the bodest and then we will tie or super gule these on. we will then weave the wires in and out of the chicken wire for a full effect in a puff ball style skirt. we have to also get going on our head piece to complete our outfit.

OUR REFLECTIONS:
Emma Griffin:
Since I started working on our Junk Koture project in september, I've been working with Shannon Flannelly. There is only two
of us in the group. I think that group work is a huge aspect of our project, and it is something that I really enjoy about it. I like the way that you can split the tasks and get more dont this way. I think the fact that there is only two people in our group helps aswell, I think we are more detemined to get things done, and it is easier to spilt the tasks. I feel that teamwork is not something that I'm great at, but I am improving greatly with it.I've also learned that you really have to take responsability to do the work when working on this project. The teachers don't give you  certain things that you have to have done for the next class, so you have to take it upon yourself to get everything done. I think that this is a good thing as we are learning to take responability , because if we don't we will not be done on time.
I did not do Home Ec for junior cert,  and I was never very good at sewing, and other skills, but doing this project has allowed me to pick up some basis skills, this also ties into why I enjoy working as a team, because Shannon did Home Ec and she's able to help me out with a lot of the Home Ec related tasks.Overall, even though I didn't really realise it, I am learning a lot from doing our Junk Koture project. Some of these are practical skills, Like the sewing, but most of them aren't, like the teamwork and responsability, these are skills that can be applied to other things too.

Daina Hosty:
We are in our tenth week of Junk Kouture. So far it has been great craic and i have picked up a whole load of new skills from this project.. Some of these skills include.....

Working in groups:
I have learned over the past ten weeks how to work in groups. I have learned that not only my opinion matters, and that i have to take other peoples ideas into consideration. Working in groups is a brilliant advancement on time. As we are working in threes, it gives us an advantage on getting things done more quickly, and it also gives us an advantage on creativity of our dress - we have more ideas and designs for our dress with three people in the group than one.

Sewing:
Over the last few weeks, i have advanced my skills of sewing. I had to sew the pleats onto our skirt, and therefore gained extra skills in sewing that i did not have before our Junk Kouture project began. I will most definitely use this skill in the future and for this i am very glad to have picked it up during this project.

Drawing:
I have learned the skill of drawing. Before beginning this project, i could not draw for my life, no joke. During this project, i ended up creating our design for the bodice of our dress (a twirly tree design) for the front and back. I am also going to use this design for the eye make up for our model.

So, basically i have learned alot of new skills in this project. I am thoroughly enjoying Junk Kouture and I am excited to see what everyones dress turns out like :)

Shannon Flannelly:
Since I started working on our Junk Koture project in September, I've been working with Emma Griffin.

As there is only two in our group we have to put in a little more time and effort into our dress then most groups. Our theme is sports and our dress is to be made out of gaelic football, basketballs and soccer balls. We have made a good progress as we are currently sewing the pieces to our top and we must start on our skirt.

We have done well so far as we have finished paper macheing our skirt. During our time of Junk Koture I have learned how to sew better than I have before and I have become aware of how important meeting a deadline is when you have another member of the group relying on you.

I have also learned how time consuming sewing is as well as sometimes having to re-do things when the do not work out as planned. As a person I believe I have grown to make sure that I do things as to help the others out. I believe that our dress and project will ultimately go very well.

Kate Nolan:
The main thing I learned from doing my Junk Kouture project was how to work in a team. Group work is a big part of the project and I think thath I understand it better now. I also learned how to plan out the work load over a long period of time and how to divide it between different members of the group. In relation to the outfit, I learned that it is hard to make a washing machine drum look good.

Sinead Smith:
From the past few weeks in my Junk Koture Project I've learnt quite alot.
I've learnt to improve on team work skills and my communication skills.
I have learned to listen to other peoples opinions and ideas. I have learned the importance of listening and working together, without this the group will fail.

I have learned to make new items with different materials. I learned how to paper mache to make a bodice for the top of the dress.

I've improved my organising skills and learned new timing management. I must give my self a deadline to try to finish my project.

Niamh Hussey:
For my junk Kouture project We are making our dress out off circuit boards and wires. out dress consists of a top and a skirt( puffball)
for our bodest part (top) we are cutting the circuit boxes with priors and using the drill in the tech to drill holes in the circuit boards to enable us to stick them on.
Since starting the junk kouture project in September i have learnt many thing about the properties of the materials im using.
I learnt that circuit board come from in side a TV and other electrical appliances however not much wiring all of the wiring is contained within the circuit board.
I also learnt that thread is strong enough and  would hold the pieces of the circuit board on the dress.
Since this project i have improved on my sewing skills and have become more creative with my ideas.
I have also learnt to communicate better and listen to one and other. This is vitally important in the group as we have to work together to get it fished for the deadline on the 7th of December

Lorna McEvoy:
What I have learned so far in my junk kouture project is teamwork skills as we're working on our outfit in a group of three and I got to know people better. I also improved on my skills of sewing as I have to individually sew on all of the light bulbs and wires onto my outfit because that is the type of recycled materials we're using. I learnt the skill of paper mache as our outfit consists of a paper mached  corset. This corset took us around two weeks to fully finish because paper mache is all about putting layers of newspaper over eachother but waiting for another layer to dry to put on another so Its very time consuming. I improved on my time keeping skills while doing my junk kouture project because we have a deadline to meet each week on what he have hoped to have done and then further on our final deadline on which our whole outfit must be complete.
While doing this project I have improved on my creativity as you have to design the whole outfit in your group and I designed the skirt. It consists of a "mixi" skirt which is when the back of the skirt is longer then the front so its a mixed length it will have wires draping down the back of the skirt and then at the front is two 'wings' coming out at the waist covered in wires all twisted into various designs.
I have learnt that the thread I use is strong enough to hold on wires onto the paper mache and finally I learnt that you have to have a very strong needle to get through the paper mached corset as the normal needles just snapped through the paper mached and ended up stabbing my finger.
Overall I have learnt to improve on my basic sewings skills and how creative my ideas are

Ava Kennard:
In art this year I have learnt many new things in a very short time.
By doing this junk couture project, I have learned about the importance of teamwork and co-operation while working in a group. I’ve learned that without communication and respect teams cannot work together successfully.

I have learned new methods of construction and new skills in making a dress from this project. I learned which are the most suitable methods of paper macheing the bodice and also the best way to attach and hold together the garment eg. By using the filaments on the lights to attach to the mesh and using masking tape to cover and tape the light switch to the  bodice.

I improved on my sewing and design skills while doing this project and I hope to continue improving these skills as I feel they are going to be useful to me.
I have learned new time management skills and also improved my organisation skills throughout the past few weeks. This project needs to be planned in order for it to be finished on time so I have had to improve my skills and make myself work to certain deadlines.

This project has helped me to work well in a team and find out more about my role in a team, as in a leader or a follower.

I hope to gain many more new skills in this product that will aid me later on even next year, such as organising my own study timetable and working towards deadlines

Roisin Nolan:
we have been doing junk kature for a good few weeks now i have learnt a lot from the expierience.
My reflection on art is I learnt how to work in a group. How to trust in people to complete tasks and only worry about completing your own assignment from week to week.
I learnt how to paper mache properly, and to ask the art teacher for permission to do anything involving her room or equipment. I learned not to waste time that every day of junk katoure counts. That if you are lazy for one day you will miss out, and will have to catch up on a lot.
I learnt that each person has to work to achieve goals. I learnt that if you want to get stuff done you have to plan in advance from the previous time you had junk koture you have to set goals for the following week and bring in the equipment you use to achieve a high standard of working.
Reflecting on the expierience i think i would have tried to do more at the start and planned the idea faster, i am glad we kept record of what we did each week. We each contributed evenly and all helped each other. Our goal now is to complete this task by the start of december we still have to do some of the skirt, the hat and the shoes.

Dairine O'Rourke:
The project is hard work. Putting  the masking tape on to the stalk of the leaves is a bit tricky. I have to make it skinny but sometimes it's too thick and I have to start again. My favourite bit is pasting glue on the leaves. I'm enjoying going over to Helena's house to work on the project. Sometimes it's hard to arrange to meet up with the team because everyone is busy. I like the team that I'm in. I'm getting to know another girl that I didn't know before.

I think that having three different classes working on the project is too much. I was looking forward to doing lots of cooking this year in Home Ec but we're doing  the project instead. I think that Design and Art would be enough for the project and leave Home Ec for cooking.

Helena Van Der Mey:
Over the weeks of junk katour I have learned that:
1, it’s easy to come up with an idea but hard to follow through making it
2, being in a group is fun but sometimes hard as when you want to work on the project after school you might be busy or there busy.
3, The last thing I have learnt is that making a dress out of leafs is a great idea but it is so hard, I wouldn’t do it again. But I did have fun.
Roisin Mahon:
For my junk kouture I and my partner decided to make a dress out of bottle caps. I unfortunately cannot remember how we came up with the idea but I remember seeing the man who made a suit out of shredded coco cola cans and that clicked in both of our minds and we wanted to do something like that.
We first had to find out what materials we wanted, how we were going to get them and also when and if we got them how was it going onto the outfit. We started collecting bottle caps from local pubs and got a lot thanks to the fact that my fellow partner`s dad delivers beer to pubsJ.
I have now realised how hard and long it takes to hammer paint and sew on bottle caps just to get more and have to repeat the whole thing all over again, I have now realised how resourceful parents are for providing us with materials for our project.
Ciara Foran:
By doing junk couture this year I have certainly learned a lot and gained more skills. One skill I have definitely gained is teamwork. For our junk kouture project we were put in groups of 3 so we all had to work together. Although sometimes we disagreed, we talked it out and then we would make a compromise with one another. I really enjoy working in a group . I find that working in a group is more enjoyable because you always have someone there to help you and also you get to know the people in your group a lot more. Working in a group is also easier sometimes because it means that the work load can be divided up so that things get done a lot quicker in comparison if you were to being everything alone.
I have also learned listening skills by doing junk kouture because we’ve all had to listen to each other and everyone’s ideas. We also have to listen to one another in general on what we think of our outfit and what we think should be improved on. We also had to listen to our teachers and their ideas for our outfit and we had to take into consideration what they thought would be best to use to complete our outfit.
I had never done art in school before so one part I enjoyed of junk kouture was the art and design side of it because I had never done something like it before.  I also enjoyed the way that we had to completely come up with our outfit and what we would make it out of because it means that every group is so different, ranging from washing machine drums, telephones, leaves and much more.
I also enjoy working on junk kouture because it’s good to have a goal or a project to be working on in transition year. We’ve all been putting in so much work into junk kouture for the last few weeks and it has kept us all busy.
One negative thing I would have to say about it would be that it is a lot of work and takes up a lot of time but it is completely worth it because I have seen a great improvement over the last few weeks in everyone’s projects and hopefully everyone’s work all pays off.

Shannon Farrelly:
Doing this junk koture project i have learned a few skills in crafting and designing. I have learned to paper mache a bodess, draw Celtic designs and patterns, I also learned how to print celtic designs that we traced on grease proof paper.....we stuck the traced designs on to the bodess using blue tack and we coloured over the design, resulting in the design to be transferred on to the bodice. I learned how to sew properly....seen has I couldn't keep it in a straight line! we attached two tutu's together to make the skirt. On the skirt we decided to insert a couple of pleats, using an old bed sheet. On the each pleat in the skirt we drew and painted a simple and swirly design. I also learned how to paint with a steady hand as our design on the bodess is very detailed and contained a lot of swirls and small gaps.

Aisling Noonan
During the junk kouture project so far i Have learnt many skills in art, craft and design. I learnt to draw dresses properly on a manikin in our first stages of the design process when we had to come up with ideas for a dress and theme. I then learnt how to properly cut along the seams when cutting material. I also learnt how to sew when I had to sew the two tutu's together to form our skirt. Next I learnt to papermache as I had never done it before and we did it a lot to make both sides of our dresses bodice. I also improved my tracing and drawing skills as i had to draw Celtic designs on our bodice to fit our theme of Irish dancing. I also had to do alot of free hand drawing to do our tree design on the front and back of our bodice.
The most I have learnt about though is team work and delegating jobs evenly so everyone does a fair share of the work needed. I also learnt about compromise and how you have to listen to others and take into account what they want as well as what you want. I also learnt about the amount of work and dedication that goes into the design and creation stages of making clothes.

Hasana B. Hare:
Since staring this project I learned many things.
·       I learned that it is easier to collect bottle caps than originally thought. After approaching several pubs we had all the bottle caps that we needed in a matter of weeks. On average a pub collects at least 250 battle caps during the course of one weekend.
·       It is easier to make a bodice out of paper mached chicken wire than cardboard. We originally planned to make the bodice by paper macheing a cardboard base but found that it would be easier to use chicken wire.
·       I learned that you can change the shape of paper mache after it is set.
·       It is not that difficult to put a hole in a bottle cap.
·       A parachute makes a great skirt when it is cut and sown properly. We cut out and made a skirt out of a section of an old parachute.
·       Bottle caps take a long time to sow onto a skirt.
Michelle:
Looking back on the progress my group and I have made I would say I have learned many new skills. I have improved on working with people in a group for such a long period of time and being able to listen to each other and co-operate with each other. I have developed new skills that are useful for putting together an outfit for a person to wear such as:                                                            Communication skills for talking to each other and being able to direct each other in many ways. Listening skills for taking the time to hear the other person out on what ideas they have for the project. I learned many new hand skills such as: Twisting and chopping our top using chicken wire. Doing a mosaic pattern for our top which involved cutting and gluing powder boxes.  Tie- dying bed sheets and many more.
